This is a typical holiday shop on Phillip Island.
Everything in the window is made from cheap imported plastic. It will last for a holiday but it will not keep until next year. If we didn’t import such rubbish, we could hire out better quality beach toys, and reduce the need to dispose of such a volume of rubbish.
Then these little fragile beach dwellers (hooded plovers mentioned in the previous post in Mallacoota, seen here on Cape Woolamai beach this week) might have a chance to survive.
They are the cutest little birds, and well camouflaged on the sand where they have their nest…
Of course the devastating bush fires are still burning in parts of Victoria. The smoke is particularly dense today- almost like a thick fog which makes it hard to breathe. Spare a thought for the many folk who have lost loved ones, livestock, pets, homes or businesses.
